Nathan H. Petersen

Nathan Petersen’s practice focuses primarily on family law, including dissolutions, custody issues, child support, modifications of parenting plans, and adoptions. He also works on dependency matters representing children who have been placed into state care by CPS, CAPTA proceedings representing individuals accused of negligent or maltreatment of a child, and guardianship proceedings. Nathan is licensed in Washington State and Texas (inactive), and previously worked defending doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice cases. Nathan believes an attorney's role is to provide diligent representation while imparting practical counsel to his clients.

Ryan Rothermel

Ryan Rothermel’s role with Petersen Rothermel Law Firm is representing clients in family law matters including dissolutions, custody issues, child support, modifications of parenting plans, and adoptions. Ryan believes his role as an attorney is to provide his clients with all the information necessary to understand their legal rights in family law. Ryan focuses on providing both fair representation and open communication with his clients to keep them informed about their case at all times. Ryan’s goal is to keep the often emotional and complicated family law matters as stress free as possible while still providing zealous advocacy when necessary.

Leaa Petersen

Leaa Petersen has been working in family law for nearly 15 years. Her practice includes representing clients in family law, including divorce, parenting plan modification, and child support modifications. Mrs. Petersen also works in criminal defense, including representing defendants against assault charges, driving under the influence, and theft.


She first worked for the firm in an administrative support role before becoming an attorney herself. Leaa participated in the Washington State Admission and Practice Rule 6 Law Clerk Program. Leaa practiced criminal defense in the Clark County District Court as a Rule 9 Intern with a limited license before taking the bar. This work involved multiple jury trials, resulting in numerous not guilty verdicts, and negotiating reduced sentences and charges for clients.


Leaa is a native of Washington State and grew up in the Seattle area. She attended and received her associate’s degree from Highline Community College in Des Moines, Washington. She then graduated from BYU in Provo, Utah, with an emphasis in public relations and communication. Before working with Petersen Rothermel Law Firm, Leaa worked at Breathing Systems International in Houston, Texas, as the Quality Assurance and Accounting manager.

Samantha King

Samantha joined Petersen Rothermel as a Paralegal in 2021, and is a diligent and supportive member of the team. She initially found an interest in family law while helping someone close to her navigate the system, prompting her to pursue and achieve an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies. Prior to discovering her passion in family law, she worked in customer service for ten years, and brings her experience and professionalism to the job every day.
